I use the PC version of SD only very infrequently but it seems that the time SD takes loading maps on initial startup is inordinately long. On my PC (pretty decent machine) it takes about 30 seconds. Methinks this used to be faster in older versions. Could this be a function of the number of maps loaded? Of the big ones I have France, Germany, Italy, Poland and some parts of the US.

You could try removing the US ones to see if that makes any difference. Generally the PC software loads maps faster than the mobile software. Work we've done for the forthcoming version means it takes around 1 second to load the charts for the whole of Europe, which are all installed on my main development laptop. But even before that work, it would take only around 7-8 seconds. So 30 seconds means something is going wrong, I suspect.
